GIVING BACK: THE CHARITY 2016

Hi Guys,
Welcome to the month of November, less than 60 days to the end of the year.
This year has been full of ups an downs but we are still here having overcome all odds. One of my goals this year was to volunteer for a charity and help put smiles on the faces of those who are less privileged, so when I saw the opportunity to do just that with The Charity 2016 organized by The Executives Initiative I practically jumped at it.What better way to end the year than by giving back and making the festive season memorable for those who do not have as much ..............

Its Giveaway Season.......

Hey Guys,
So our dear country, Nigeria, turns 56 in a couple of days. A lot of people might not see any reason to be thankful or celebrate due to the recent economic situation of the country, but I am thankful that despite all the issues coming up here and there, Nigeria is still standing as a nation. I believe Nigeria can weather any storm that comes its way but it requires a great deal or patience and perseverance. God on our side we will over come.

in other news, I got a couple of tickets to the live recording of the Highlites with Ik show. Highlites with Ik is a tv show hosted by popular radio personality and Big Brother Africa host, Ik Osakioduwa. The show tackles societal issues with a dose of humor and wit, also rib-cracking and hilarious skits that the everyday Nigerian can relate to.

LOVE, EMOTIONS AND PUNCHES……

Ok Guys! Calm down and please don’t go about punching. This is not in any way to suggest that punching a girl is not an abuse. Gender bias? Ok – babes be mindful too. Even our subtly hitting of a guy’s chest when we are in love and they just won’t get it might just be termed as an abuse.  Well I don’t want to exaggerate but abuse has been fantastically and corruptibly justified these days. She hit me first he said – Charlatan!

Abuse is abuse and there is the general perception that a man or woman have to hit you for it to be termed abuse. Someone said in his phony yankee accent ‘I hit her yea but errrm erm I didn’t do any damage to her body – I couldn’t close my mouth but I managed to murmured his deserved comments  in my native language ‘Oloshi, Oloriburuku”. Well it has to be inaudible and in my native language. It is being cerebral. I can’t afford any damage to my fine face

Get it - if you ever thought to hit or have attempted to hit, before you came to your senses or your senses came to you. You need help and urgently. And if you are the victim or the potential victim, start running. Please run like ‘kunta kinte’ in Roots. Ok he was caught. Please run like Forrest Grump.

So I saw this statistics one of those days I was carelessly going through random stuff. A university don did a research on 1.5m people that was abused and he said 96% of those cases were emotionally abused and only 4% have been physically abused. It immediately dawn on me. So does that mean Titi, Chika, Tola, Hauwa, Ayo and even I have been abused emotionally????

We all know about domestic abuse, rape and all other forms of physical abuse. It’s quite appalling that a lot of these cases seem to be coming up these days with even gory details that send shivers down your spine.

In all this there is a worse form of abuse going around today and if not curbed, could be more dangerous than physical abuse.  Emotional Abuse!!!!!!!

" I stare out the car window and i see him with the blank expression on his face.
He couldn't believe his luck.
He worked from dawn to dusk and nothing exciting hardly happened.
Until today.....

He stared  at the 1000 naira note in his hand,
like it was gold.
He asked the man in the Range Rover, what have i done to deserve this,
I only cleaned the windshield of your car.

The man looks at him, collects the 1000 naira note back and brings out a wad of 1000 naira notes, hands it over the young guy.
That was it! he lay flat on his belly on the busy tar road just to show gratitude.

Just one statement caught my attention; No one has ever done this for me; what have I done to deserve this .

He moves to a secluded corner, goes on his knees, shedding tears of joy, praying and thanking God".

"She stares at the reflection in the mirror, and all she sees are physical imperfections i.e large ears like jumbo the elephant, large nose etc. She doesn’t feel good enough for anyone not even herself. All walls of self worth, self esteem, self confidence broken down by negative comments and downsizing attitudes from people around".

The Fear Factor- My Driving lessons Experience

Hi guys!

Been a while since my last post. Wow! now i know how hard it is for bloggers, coming up with contents for their blogs.

So basically, everyone that knows me know that I have a problem with driving. A problem in the sense that i am so scared of being on the same road with other cars because I feel I would hit someone's car and believe you me, no level of English or begging will help such situation.

To overcome this I began taking driving lessons but somewhere midway I abandoned it because I lost hope in myself. After that I never tried going back to my lessons, and then i got talking with someone one day and it dawned on me that fear is actually a state of mind, whereby you lose hope in a situation without even giving yourself the benefit of doubt.

I am going to share a few lessons I have learnt from my personal experiences with fear.

Days of Our Lives

I know a lot of people are thinking, "isn't that the title of a soap opera? So cheesy"
Well, I just borrowed the title *lol*. I decided to try my hands on this for the first time, so here goes:

Wake up 5:00am, prepare for your 8am- 6pm job.

Half of the day gone and you do not even sense the pangs of hunger calling out your name,
all you feel is fatigued, overworked, even a little pissed off.
