I' III Hey guys,
It’s the weekend again…. Yaaaayy
So last week I attended the Woman Within-Style and Confidence
workshop organized by A.N.K.A. This is
actually the first event I will attend since I started blogging, it’s a start
for me getting out of my comfort zone and meeting new people,
First of all, let me tell you what A.N.K.A is all
about.
Anka is an image management and style strategy firm,
which offers services in image consultancy, style strategy and confidence
workshops for women development. The brain behind this great initiative is
Uzoamaka Ukegbu, who by the way is an amazing lady.
We had guest speakers come in to speak to us on issues
ranging from self-confidence, to finding your style, dressing for your body
type and building your personal brand. The speakers were Bidemi Zakariyau, founder
and principal consultant of LSF PR, Wana Sambo, Creative director of Wana Sambo,
and last but definitely not the least, Bayo Oke-Lawal, founder and designer of
Orange Culture Nigeria. These people are super amazing and down to earth and
there was definitely a lot to learn from them. Mummy Anka i.e Uzo's mum was also there, Very supportive of her daughters dream,

The venue was conducive and the session was interactive, because we all got to share our experiences and you discover you
are not alone facing a particular issue bordering on accepting flaws and dressing to suit your body shape etc. We also played dress up.
So, here is a few points I learnt from the workshop;
1. Stay away
from negativity and bring on the positivity
Be positive, even if you're not feeling it quite yet.
Put some positive enthusiasm into your interactions with others and hit the
ground running, excited to begin your next project. Stop focusing on the
problems in your life and instead begin to focus on solutions and making
positive changes.
Also surround yourself with people of like mind as
you. Do away with friends that constantly put you down or don’t want you to be
better than them
2. Change your
body language and image
Here posture, smiling, eye contact, and speech slowly
come into play. Just the simple act of pulling your shoulders back gives others
the impression that you are a confident person. Smiling will not only make you
feel better, but will make others feel more comfortable around you. Imagine a
person with good posture and a smile and you'll be envisioning someone who is
self-confident. Here accepting your flaws come into play. Learn to be
comfortable in your own skin. Never let people define who you are.
Discover what makes you unique in your own way and
communicate exactly that to people, not necessarily by telling them but in how
you dress, as well as carriage.
3. Don't accept
failure and get rid of the negative voices in your head
Never give up. Never accept failure. There is a
solution to everything, so why would you want to throw in the towel? Make this
your new mantra. Succeeding through great adversity is a huge confidence
booster. Low self-confidence is often caused by the negative thoughts running
through our minds on an endless track. If you are constantly bashing yourself
and saying you're not good enough, aren't attractive enough, aren't smart
enough or athletic enough, and on and on, you are creating a self-fulfilling
prophecy. You are becoming what you are preaching inside your head, and that's
not good. The next time you hear that negativity in your head, switch it
immediately to a positive affirmation and keep it up until it hits the caliber of
a self-confidence boost.
A big thank you to Anka for the workshop and I look
forward to the next workshop.
Till my next post
Lots of love XOXOXO
Mo
This looks like it was fun, it's a good thing that you've decided to step out of your comfort zone too. All the points you listed are really amazing, hopefully we'd all imbibe them into our everyday lives.
